At the urging of the recovery community, Governor Brown has proposed to raise the beer and wine tax in Oregon for the first time in 40 years in an effort to reverse Oregon's rapidly increasing fatality rate due to alcohol. This has mobilized opposition from the national alcohol lobby and they are pressuring her to back down.
